The background of OISEE online experiment system
OISEE stands for Online Interactive Science and Engineering Experiment System. Online experimentation allows students from anywhere to operate remote instruments at any time. This promising e-learning application is well positioned to use Web Services to conduct online experiment systems due to its interoperability and Internet compliance. Our demo system shows how an online experiment system works and demonstrate the usage of Web Services as the architecture of online experiment system.

Contributions of OISEE
The technology adapted by the current online experiment system (OES) is based on simple client-sever architecture and uses off-the-shelf middlewares for communication. It is difficult to connect heterogeneous resources for experiments using off-the-shelf middlewares.

OISEE uses a double client-server architecture. Web Services is used as the second tier client-server to connect heterogeneous resources for experiments. It is a platform and language independent solution. By using Web Services, the online laboratory does not limit to the products of one company. OISEE has solutions to wrap instrument functions into Web Services, and control remote instrument using Web Services protocols. OISEE also has solutions to display the graphic panel of instruments on Web interface.

We are working on the registry server for web services discovery and web service composition issues.

The demo: Online Common Emitter Amplifier Experiment
The Common Emitter Amplifier is one of the three basic transistor amplifier configurations. In this experiment, the student will build and investigate a basic NPN common emitter transistor amplifier.

The demo will show how the student can do online experiment and fulfill the learning objectives.
